What is the Plot of Devilman Crybaby?
- The plot of the devil man cry baby revolves around the life of a high school student named Akira Fudo. Akira shares the roof with his childhood friend and long-time crush Miki Makimura, Taro, her brother, and her parents- Noel and Akiko. Ryo Asuka is introduced in their lives when Akira endeavors to save Miki from being harassed by a gang led by a rapper Wamu. Ryo rescues them from the trouble. It is then that Akira learns about Ryo’s recent expedition to the Amazon rainforest, which revealed many unbelievable truths. Akira learned that demons did exist, but due to some unfathomable reasons, the government is trying to deprive the common people of this sensitive information. Ryo and Akira, being dutiful citizens, thus decide to uncover the secrets of the demons and the malicious deeds and intentions of the government.
- To make this happen, Ryo and Akira had to do something to trigger the demons and make them appear before the humans. In the above context, they go to a nightclub where Ryo and Akira attack the main patrons with the help of broken bottles, causing bloodshed. This makes demons appear. What they did not know was that the demons attack humans too. Hence, their plan backfired, and the demons started massacring the humans present in the nightclub. In a vague attempt to record this incident as proof, Ryo gets tethered by a demon. These demons also had the power to possess any human and control his behavior.
- When the demons were unleashed into the human world, a powerful demon named Amon tried to possess Akira. However, due to his strong willpower, Akira prevents that from happening. Instead, he takes the form of one of Amon’s demons and uses it to slaughter other demons present. Akira’s parents had also fallen prey to a demon attack. Thus, Ryo and Akira fight side by side to combat those demons. Some of the significant demons they slaughtered are- Silene, Amon’s lover, Kaim, the associate of Silene and Jinmen. Gineman was the most notorious of the lot because it was him who had Killed Akira’s parents.
- However, after this incident, Akira and Ryo eventually grow apart because Akira does not approve of Roy’s extreme actions to safeguard Akira’s secrets.
- As a setback, Ryo reveals on television that a track star called Moyuru Koda is a demon impersonating a human form. Unquestionably this information causes massive unrest among the masses, which quickly turns Into a global pandemic. The revelation that demons existed and were very much present amidst humanity did not go well with the people. They started turning against one another in the vague doubt of considering the other person to be a demon in a human form. As Tokyo sank into the grip of chaos, Miki’s parents fell prey to the brutal actions of the police. They were buried by Akira outside the city of Tokyo.
- On seeing the chaos, he created Ryo got utterly confused and decided to visit the Amazon rainforest. On returning, Roy revealed in another television program a video of Akira transforming into a devil, thus causing another round of utter confusion. This pushed the world to the edge of mass violence and genocide. Miki and her friends got brutally murdered by a group of mobs who believed Ryo’s footage and thought that Akira was a real demon when Miki took to the Internet to defend Akira. This bewildered Akira, and he, in turn, slashed everybody present in the mob after he saw the ghastly sight of the mob roaming around with the mutilated body parts office friends on sticks. This act of his was considered a nemesis.
- These incidents made Akira doubt Roy, and he eventually confronted him. Ryo confessed that he was none other than Satan himself. He continues to say that although God had destroyed the body of the demons and himself, their souls somehow endured the pain and got reincarnated as Ryo and other humans. He reveals that his true intentions are to exterminate humanity, for which he asked for Akira’s support and thanked him for being by his side when he was in the form of Ryo. Needless it is to say that Akira refused this invitation, and with the help of other devil men, he fought Satan and his demons. Bing unparalleled in strength, Akira’s army lost. After annihilating humanity, Satan realized that Akira, the only person he ever loved, was dead.
